1. Overview

Sydney Transit ("the Application") is an independent mobile application developed by J Pearson / MojoSoft. This Privacy Policy explains how location information, device identifiers, and public transport API requests are handled when you use Sydney Transit.

We respect your privacy and design our applications to minimize data processing. You can use all core features—including live departures, route planning, interactive maps, and arrival alarms—without creating an account or sharing personal identifying information.

2. Location Information

If you grant location permission, Sydney Transit uses your device's GPS and network location to:

Display your current location on the interactive transit map.
Find nearby Sydney train stations, metro stops, light rail platforms, bus stands, and ferry wharves.
Calculate walking distances and journey directions to transit stops.

Your precise location is processed entirely on your device. Sydney Transit does not collect, log, transmit, or store your coordinates on remote servers.

3. Saved Data & Preferences

Your favorite stops, custom arrival alarms, and app settings are stored locally on your device using native platform storage mechanisms. This data is not uploaded to external servers and remains under your exclusive control.

4. Transport & Open Data APIs

Sydney Transit fetches live departure predictions, schedule updates, and vehicle coordinates directly from Transport for NSW public open data APIs:

Requests sent to public open data services contain standard technical request headers (such as IP address and user-agent string) necessary to establish HTTPS connections, but contain no user account data.

5. Advertising & Third-Party SDKs

Sydney Transit integrates the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob) to support development costs. Google AdMob may process device identifiers, approximate coarse location, and app usage metrics in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy.

Where required by law (such as under European GDPR or UK privacy frameworks), user consent options for personalized advertising are requested prior to requesting ads.
