Nottingham Bus/Tram Times is designed to keep data on your device whenever possible.
- No account required - We do not ask you to create an account or profile.
- Location is optional - Used locally to find nearby stops and stations.
- Transport data is cached locally - Stops, routes, schedules, and tram snapshots are stored on-device for speed.
- Live bus data is fetched on request - Bus arrival boards are requested directly from the public NCT live board API.
- Ads may be displayed - We use Google AdMob to support the app.
- No selling of personal data - We do not sell your personal information.
1. Introduction
This privacy policy explains how J Pearson ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use Nottingham Bus/Tram Times (the "App").
The App is a Nottingham-focused transport companion for buses, trams, and rail journeys. It is built to minimise data collection and keep the core experience usable even with limited connectivity.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Location Data (Optional)
If you allow location access, the App uses your device location to calculate nearby stops and walking distances. Location processing happens on your device. We do not store your location history or upload your live location to our servers.
2.2 Cached Transport Data
The App stores transport data locally to improve speed and support offline use, including:
- stop and station lists
- route membership and stop metadata
- bus timetable caches and journey planning data
- tram snapshot data and route-sequence mappings
- your saved favourites and preferences
2.3 Live Transport Requests
When you open a bus stop, the App may request the current live Passenger/NCT departures board from a public API. Those responses are used to show live arrivals and are not used to build a personal profile.
2.4 Analytics, Ads, and Diagnostics
We may use anonymous crash reporting or usage analytics to improve the App. We also use Google AdMob for banner advertising. These services may collect device identifiers or technical data according to their own policies.
What we do not collect: your name, account details, contacts, photos, or precise location history.
3. How We Use Information
- to show nearby stops, stations, and arrival boards
- to calculate routes and journey details
- to cache transport data for faster loading
- to improve app reliability and diagnose bugs
- to display advertising so the App can remain free
4. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We only share data where necessary to provide the App's features, such as requesting public transport information from the relevant operators and using third-party services like Google AdMob.
5. Storage and Retention
Local cache data is stored on your device and refreshed automatically. Some data, such as tram snapshot rows, may be retained for up to 30 days, while failed refreshes can pause retries for a short cooldown period to avoid unnecessary network calls.
6. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will review the request promptly.

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
